After a very positive post last month, September has been a little bleurgh. I’ve hardly written a word. Of anything. I’m dropping the ball on all sorts of things, and watching deadlines pass me by.
I’ve done a lot of work on this new website of mine, I’ve spent a lot of time in writing forums, giving and seeking advice, and I’ve done lots of thinking, and planning for the future.
But as for actual words on the page? Not a lot to report. And then, of course, the longer I left it, the harder it was to restart. “What if I’m not as good as I used to be?” “What if I was never that good to start with?” “What if this is all a waste of time because no one will ever bother reading it?” Familiar thoughts for any writer.
And it may have taken me most of the month, but I did it: I conquered the blank page and I wrote. Not a huge amount. But words all the same. And it’s overcoming that hump that’s important.
Mind you, next month, I’ll probably be glad of the rest. Things are about to get hectic!
How was September for you and your goals?
