What happened when a convention veteran and a convention virgin hit Edge-Lit?
Edge-Lit is an annual, all-day writing event held each summer in Derby, UK. I’ve been attending regularly for a few years, and have built up an incredible network of equally incredible people there. Some of whom have become best friends of mine.
Focusing on the horror, science fiction, and fantasy genres, the event encompasses varied workshops, panel discussions, and guest author interviews, along with book sales, book launches, and the infamous Edge-Lit raffle.
This year, I brought along Holly (writing as H.B. Lyne), the co-host of our podcast, The Great Western Woods Worldbuilding Podcast. It was her first time at Edge-Lit, and she has very little experience of live events.
Luckily, she had me to show her the ropes!
On the morning after attending Edge-Lit 8, still suffering with post-convention exhaustion (but after a good breakfast), Holly and myself recorded an episode of our podcast together.
We talk workshops and panels, networking, and the need to clone ourselves multiple times.
Hear our highs and lows of the day, and our biggest takeaways, all while in recovery mode, and barely coherent!
