On Sunday, we decided to go for a drive in the Peak District. Despite having moved to Staffordshire around 18 months ago, I haven’t had the chance to explore very much and, having spent most of my life living on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon, it was really nice to be out in the expanse of the dales.
It wasn’t a great day weather-wise, so we contented ourselves with looking out for places to return to and explore another day.
But then we came across something unexpected. In the middle of nowhere, we discovered a huge discount bookstore. In fact, it claims to be one of the largest independent bookshops in the country.
So, of course, we couldn’t just drive past, could we?
To begin with, I was being very good, only picking up a couple of titles, but then I found their Science Fiction section (although it actually covered all the speculative fiction genres) and it all went downhill from there!
So I came home with quite a haul. My poor to-be-read pile is already a mammoth one, so I suppose a few more books won’t make much difference.
Maybe, one day, I’ll make it to the bottom of that pile (but probably not). Have you ever made it to the bottom of your TBR pile, or have you got more books than you could read in a lifetime?
