After last month’s post, several of you asked me to report the results of my Instafreebie promotion, so here we go.
The joint promotion, focussing on fantasy and science fiction books, ran from November 14th – 20th, and involved 121 books. That meant, potentially, 121 authors sharing the promotion with their social media followers, and with their mailing list subscribers. That’s got to be a substantial reach. The promotion was also featured by Instafreebie.
I was using the Plus account ($20 per month), and had it set so that anyone downloading my book also subscribed to my mailing list. The promotion brought me almost 600 extra subscribers to my list.
Looking through the results post on Facebook, there was quite a wide range of results, ranging from just a couple of hundred extra subscribers to over 1,000, so I’m very pleased with my middling result.
From the Instafreebie subscribers I’d previously gained, I would agree with the general opinion amongst writers that Instafreebie subscribers are more engaged and more likely to stay on your list. I’ll definitely be joining in with future Instafreebie joint promotions, and I’m very impressed with the outcome.
